They really turned Virginia City into a Tourist trap...... Waaaaaaaay too
crowded, especially since it's mainly a one street town. Prices here are
obscene. Looooong waits in restaurants. Crappy music blaring at 90 db
above pain. Wannabe "Cowboys" all over the place. We got here late
afternoon on Saturday but spent most of that time walking around trying
to find a decent place to eat. We were out the door at 06:00 Sunday
morning to take pictures.... luckily, the Tourists just started showing
up when we were ready to blow town.
I'm glad we came and Virginia City was the primary destination for this
trip. But I wouldn't be overly eager to return. Only regret was that
there was no time to ride the V&T Railroad train. But..... it's too early
in the season for them to run the steam locomotive.... wasn't very keen
to kill the better part of the day so we could ride a diesel a couple of
miles to Gold Hill. I'm sure that, like everything else here, the train
coaches are mobbed.
