It's been pouring all over the west coast for weeks but.... thanks to the
Eloise Company and her amazing GET LOST! product, not a drop of rain the
whole time we were in Yosemite.
In hindsight, I should have brought my wider primes.... this is the first
time in recent memory that a 50mm lens was too long.
I wasn't all that happy with any of the pictures I took. I just couldn't
compose many of the shots I wanted to take. Bummer.
Julie got the best image of the trip at the very last stop on the very last
day, taken with her iPhone....
This was a major screw-up on my part for not planning better. This was,
after all, a trip that was taken with the intentions of walking in the
footsteps of Ansel Adams. I guess I still have a long way to go....
These images were made with my Nikon D810 camera and my
Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F/1.4 ZF.2 manual focus Lens.
The Happy Burger in Mariposa was pretty amazing.
This is the main entrance to Yosemite from the west.
The little cottage behind this building is where Ansel processed
his plates. We took a "photography class" with Michael who showed us
where Ansel stood when he made various images that were in a book
that Michael had. Trying to capture the same images that Ansel made
turned out to be a daunting and humbling experience. Personally,
I didn't even come close, as you can see from the images posted here.
