We did the Southern segment of this loop tour in 2013.

We did the Northern segment of this loop tour in 2014.

Cashmere, Washington is getting to be our favorite destination for the 4th of July.
Figured the best plan this year was to leave right after work and get some miles
behind us before starting the actual long weekend. This way we were already 200
miles out of town before things really got started.

It was pretty hot so we baked riding to Toppenish and again the next day to Cashmere.
Running across the Northern Cascades we went through a number of mountain passes but
it was still mostly warm. Didn't get into any cool temps until we got to the
Olympic Penninsula. By the time we got to Port Townsend it was heavy overcast
and sprinkling. The ride down to Bremerton was downright wet. I think next time I
I will skip the run out to the coast and stay in Eastern Washington. Perhaps come back
via Paradise and Sunrise (Mount Rainier) as we did in 2013.

It's a good thing we did this ride when we did.... ten days later, there were huge
fires caused by lightnimg hits and extremely dry conditions that fried areas in and
around Pateros and Winthrop. If some of these highways get closed there really are
no detour options!

Spent the first night in Toppenish which truly is The City of Murals.

Here are more pictures of the Toppenish, Washington segment.

Checked out the Northern Pacific Railroad Museum, which was closed by the time we
got to town.

Here are more pictures of the Pacific Northern Railroad Museum segment.

Headed out early and stopped in Roslyn, Washington. This was the set for the TV
show "Northern Exposure" which was supposed to be in Cicely, Alaska.

Here are more pictures of the Roslyn Ghost Town segment.

Here are still more pictures of the Roslyn Ghost Town segment.

Here are even more pictures of the Roslyn Ghost Town segment.

Here is the final batch of pictures for the Roslyn Ghost Town segment.

Just a few miles down the road past Roslyn is the Ghost Town of Ronald, Washington.

Here are more pictures of the Ronald Ghost Town segment.

An interesting little burb well off the beaten path. Liberty, Washington.

Here are more pictures of the Liberty Ghost Town segment.

Here are yet more pictures of the Liberty Ghost Town segment.

Spent the night in Cashmere, Washington.

Here are more pictures of the Cashmere segment.

Stopped in the western motif tourist trap of Winthrop, Washington.

Here are more pictures of the Winthrop segment.

Here are a few pictures of our stop in Newhalem, Washington

The Chamber of Commerce has been giving Concrete, Washington a big buildup for
decades. Finally got here..... what a let down. A true shit hole.

Here are a few pictures taken in Concrete, Washington if you need convincing.

It started getting cooler and more overcast the further west we went. Crossed over
onto Whidbey Island and ran it's entire length. Stopped in Coupeville to look around.

Here are a few pictures of Coupeville, Washington.

Here are some pictures taken on our ferry ride to Port Townsend.

Wanted to get our fortune read in Port Townsend but the soothsayer wasn't there.

Started sprinkling when we arrived. Turned into showers by the time we left and
rain all the way to Bremerton. Here are some pictures taken in Port Townsend.

Here are more pictures of the Bremerton, Washington segment.

Random pictures taken along the Northern Cascade Tour.

Not much left after the fire of 2013 just North of Goldendale, Washington.

Here's a few pictures that were taken on the road. Most were taken along Highway
20 along the Northern Cascade Highway.

This is a 60 MPH highway (101) just North of Olympia. 70 MPH is pretty much the
average speed here. No mommy deer seen. She was probably killed the same way these
two will be if they don't develop some survival skills.

A little church in Allyn, Washington.
