We did the Southern segment of this loop tour in
2013.
We did the Northern segment of this loop tour in
2014.
Liberty, Washington is a tiny but very nice Ghost Town with a small number of local
residents. Most are retired and everyone we met was very gracious and hospitable.
Liberty, Washington is well off the beaten path and easily overlooked but it is
easily accessible on a paved spur road off of Highway 97. Liberty is about half
way between Roslyn and Cashmere and is certainly well worth an hour or so to check out.
Ellie Oakley!!!!!
There is a B&B here although the room rate is no longer 50 cents as the 1897
billboard states. I don't know that there is enough to do in Liberty to warrant
an overnight stay here. But they have the place and grounds fixed up very nice
here. I'm just not all that into bed and breakfast lodgings... too unpredictable
and often expensive.
This is the oldest home in Liberty and it's for sale. The owner spends Winters in
Arizona. I'm guessing that Winter here is pretty remote and desolate. The nearest
store and fuel is quite some distance away so residents would need to be fairly
self-sufficient.
Here are some more pictures of the
Liberty, Washington segment.
